The conservation authority's new flood mapping — the first full redraw since 1997 — adds 1,900 properties to the regulated floodplain, and the letters landed in mailboxes this week.
The mapping reflects two decades of upstream development and a design storm recalibrated for a wetter climate. It is not a prediction; it is a boundary with legal force.
For most affected owners the change means permits, not prohibition. For a strip of Bridgeport it means the addition they planned is no longer approvable.
